Working with a Managing General Agency (MGA) and its non-admitted Excess & Surplus Lines carrier is not taboo. The insurance marketplace is dynamic and, as such, some accounts periodically fall within and outside of favor with admitted markets and/or direct appointments. When accounts fall outside of favor, turning to an MGA that has access and market recognition with E&S carriers, with whom you have developed a business relationship, can and will be your best line of defense to help secure your client's coverage needs.

For years we have heard comments from retail producers that working with MGA's can be painful: they ask too many questions and they're taking too much of the commissions on the placement.

This course will provide an overview of the role, responsibility, and function of an MGA and its Underwriters.  Working with and developing a business partnership with that MGA and Underwriter will be beneficial to you, your office, and most importantly your client.
