Get up to speed quickly with this introduction to leading remote teams. The first few days of a new team member’s tenure sets the stage for the rest of their time with your organization. Giving them the best possible chance for success in a remote environment will take time, work, and communication. This short course will give the remote team leader the help they need to begin a long and fruitful relationship with your team. Better hiring and leading in the early days makes for a better remote work experience for all involved.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Recognize the characteristics of a successful remote worker.
  2. Describe the personality traits that make a successful remote leader.
  3. Recognize the obstacles to successfully onboarding remote new hires.
  4. Develop and use an onboarding process to overcome obstacles to onboarding remote new hires.
  5. Generate learning plans for teams and individuals using a learning needs analysis process.
  6. Assess team and individual learning.
  7. Determine whether the organization needs a formal learning management system or a content management system.

This is a blended learning experience. Participants will take part in 5 daily virtual classroom discussions over one week. Between the virtual classes, participants are expected to complete self-directed work, which should take no more than 1-2 hours.

The course will meet Monday through Friday, November 2-6 at 3 pm Eastern.
