Quick Overview

In 2017, ISO made changes to the ordinance or law endorsement. That's reason enough to revisit this form and remind ourselves why an insured would want it attached to their commercial property policy.

Most property losses are partial losses. That means that a significant portion of the building is undamaged.

What happens when the city or county tells your customer that they need to demolish that undamaged part of their building?

What do you tell them when they ask how much money the insurance company will pay for demolishing their building?

If the customer relies on their unendorsed commercial property policy, they will be out a significant amount of money to get their building demolished and rebuilt because their policy will only cover the damages caused by a covered cause of loss. In this session, we will examine the current version of the ISO Ordinance or Law Coverage Endorsement to discover a few reasons why your customers want it on their policies.

What will you learn?

  • That coverage gaps exist in the unendorsed commercial property policy.
  • Coverages that the ordinance or law endorsement provide.
  • How to estimate limits for the ordinance or law endorsement.
  • Changes that were added to the 2017 endorsement.
